Our Beginning

The Society of Nepali Engineers in Victoria (SNEVic) was founded by Nepali Engineers to unite and support Nepali engineers in Victoria, to create a platform where both new and experienced engineers can share insights, expand their networks, and advance their careers.

The first gathering of Nepali Engineers was on Australia Day, 2015 at Surrey Park, Box Hill, Victoria for BBQ meet and greet. This convivial gathering brought together Nepali engineers in Victoria, who recognized the need for a coordinated engineering body to support and unite their community. This was the beginning of SNEVic journey.

The coordination committee and constitution task force and many other engineers played crucial roles and provided significant contributions & support that helped to shape this organisation we have today.

SNEVic first Career Workshop

On 21st February 2016, SNEVic organized a first workshop to support Nepali Engineers. This was the largest gathering of professional Nepali Engineers for the workshop program named “Nepali Engineers' challenges in Australia and path to career progression” at the Darebin Intercultural Centre in Preston, Vic.

This workshop program was aimed to address the engineering job market in Australia, professional challenges in workplace and ways to build successful career for Nepali Engineers. This was a great networking opportunity for both new and experienced engineers and to learn from each other’s knowledge and experience.

Senior members of SNEVic presented and addressed the challenges using real life experience. Many Engineering graduates and professional engineers in attendance were delighted to relate to the examples and draw inspiration for their career.

SNEVic continued with activities such as networking events, resume review and providing one-on-one mentoring to new graduates and migrant engineers to support their career journey in Australia.

In November 2022, a task force was created to address and finalise the draft constitution for SNEVic after a dormancy period of about 5 years to address unresolved issues in the constitution. The task force consisted of Ranjan Vaidya, Shree Pant, Sunil Bhandari, Tilak Pokharel, Hari Pandey, Suresh Hada, Jog Limbu, and Dasharath Neupane. This team completed the constitution and was approved by the SNEVic gathering on 17th December 2022 at Coburg Lake Reserve, Coburg North.
